Teaching Methods
Teaching methods of lessons aim at the global learning of the course. These lessons are taught based on presentations and literature-based, using audiovisual means. At the end of each subject that constitute de programme of the course a synthesis will be made and some application problems will be proposed.
Learning Outcomes
The fire safety in buildings is achieved at the expense of passive and active fire protection measures, focusing this course on the last one. The passive fire protection means are increasingly more advanced but also more complexes. The main objective of this course is to provide knowledge to students who wish to develop their PhD Thesis in the field of the modeling of active fire protection systems, particularly automatic fire detection systems, extinguishing and smoke control (natural and mechanical).
In addition to detection and extinction theories and smoke movement, will also be presented several algorithms related to the modeling of effects of those fire protection means. Modeling the interaction between fire phenomena and active fire protection means is also another objective of this course.
