Teaching Methods

Classroom interaction:

The lectures are organized to encourage students’ active involvement in learning, fostering student-teacher interaction.

In some classes the theoretical contents are exposed, stimulating the discussion of their importance and validity. In others, theoretical knowledge is applied to discuss and solve (real and/or simulated) problems, hence contributing to the course objectives’ achievement.

Evaluation - Two alternative assessment schemes are proposed:

(i) Continuous assessment

(ii) final exam.

Learning Outcomes

O1. To identify the main topics analyzed in the disciplines studying the relationships between the economy, the environment and society.

O2: To discuss the need for environmentally sound solutions to global/regional problems, namely including the identification of specific policies aimed at promoting sustainable development strategies;

O4. To recognize and adjust the concepts of externalities and market failures to the context of Environmental Economics.
