Teaching Methods

Theoretical-practical lessons with detailed exposure, using audio-visual media, of the fundamental concepts, principles and theories of fire safety of structures and with the resolution of some practical exercises that satisfy all the needs of students with the matters. Theoretical-practical lessons that students, with the guidance of teacher, resolve some practical application exercises.

Learning Outcomes

Building’s structures are subjected in a fire situation to thermal actions that cannot be ignored so that the designer, according to the current standardization, must take these actions into account. The main purpose of this course is to give the students the necessary knowledge to perform the design of structures under fire situation. In this course, structural fire design according to Eurocodes is studied in detail. After an exhaustive and detailed theoretical study of the Eurocodes structural fire design exercises are performed. Finally are discussed aspects related to the assessment and rehabilitation of fire damaged structures.
