Teaching Methods

Teaching methods of lessons aim at the global learning of the course. These lessons are taught based on presentations and literature-based, using audiovisual means. At the end of each subject that constitute de programme of the course a synthesis will be made and some application problems will be proposed.

Learning Outcomes

Fire safety in buildings is achieved at the expense of passive and active protection means, focusing this course in the last one. In this course there are three key issues: the first related to the means of fire detection and alarm, the second with electrical installations, emergency lighting and signaling and, finally, the third related to fire extinguishing systems.

The main objective of this course is to provide students with knowledge in the area of fire safety systems and equipment for that face every situation in concrete, to choose and design these means in accordance with the standards in force.

The knowledge and use of various analytical models regarding some of the phenomena related to the development and spread of fire is another expertise that students must acquire so that they can accurately design those means of fire protection.
