Teaching Methods

Lectures supported by analysis and critical commentary of legislation, using IT resources. Debate on the subjects addressed and critical participation of students will be encouraged throughout the classes.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students are expected to:
i) know the legislation and legal regulations for information services;
ii) acquire the skills to rigorously interpret essential legal concepts and terms used in information services;
iii) acquire the skills to be able to carry out their professional activity in this field in any institutional context.

2. Archives and archiving systems: legal aspects and jurisdictional framework
3. Between public and private: archival, audio-visual, bibliographic and photographic heritage, its valorisation and protection
4. Functions of archive services: legal framework and procedures
5. Right and access to information, transparency and accountability
6. Public, private and personal data: aspects of the General Data Protection Regulation
