Teaching Methods
The teaching methodologies are active and students will have to use tools and software to implement the cost-effectiveness analysis models.
Students are challenged to form heterogeneous groups, in terms of background, to propose and fully evaluate a health technology of their choice.
Learning Outcomes
The objectives of this course are to provide students with a deep understanding of economic evaluation applied to health technologies and to empower them to build analytical models that support decisions in health economics. Students will develop skills in using different types of modeling, such as decision trees and Markov models, for conducting cost-effectiveness analyses and decision-making. They will also be introduced to and discuss ways to represent uncertainty in models and critically interpret the results of economic evaluations. By the end of the unit, students will be prepared to collaborate in teams aimed at developing applications for economic evaluation in healthcare.
