Teaching Methods
The curricular unit will operate as a Seminar: presentation of content, clarification of doubts, response to objections and comments,
guidance of tasks by teachers; preparation, presentation and debate of tasks by students.
The mandatory assessment vectors are: the preparation and presentation of the structure of the bibliographic and documentary research work (15'), the preparation and delivery of a bibliographic and documentary research work (15p. of text and notes), the preparation and delivery of a critical review (7p. of text). Informal participation in classes, the preparation and delivery of observation reports are also encouraged; the organization of and participation in scientific events, study visits, etc.
Learning Outcomes
The aim is to make known the concepts of “cultural heritage”, “museology” and “conservation or rehabilitation”. The categories of “cultural policy”, “identity governance” and “historical-cultural memories” are analyzed. The currents of “traditional cultural heritage”, “new cultural heritage” and “post-modern cultural heritage” stand out; the possibilities of correlation with, among others, historiographical research and other social sciences, in humanities.
It will be possible to acquire skills to participate in the debate about, both the operability of the notions of “cultural heritage”, “museology” and “conservation or rehabilitation”, and the social usefulness of investments in cultural heritage; analyzing the quality of cultural heritage projects; collaboration in or coordination of projects related to cultural heritage (material and intangible; immovable, integrated and mobile; formal and informal), with museums and other related areas.

1.3. Cultural heritage, convergence and divergence.
2.1. Cultural heritage: ideology, science or technology? The ‘prehistory’ of cultural heritage.
2.2. Post-Second World War, political regimes in Nation States, UNESCO and other International Organizations, cultural heritage and museums.
2.3. Modern, Neomodern and Postmodern Paradigms: traditional cultural heritage, new cultural heritage and postmodern cultural heritage.
2.4. Monuments and heritage sites. Typology of museums and catalog of museological features. From restoration and return of original grandeur or dignity to conservation and rehabilitation.
2.5. Cultural heritage, museums, “memory policies” and historical-cultural identities.
