Japanese Language and Culture Course – level I
General Objectives of the Course
The main objective of this course is learning the Japanese language and culture both written and spoken, in the context of everyday situations and cultural life. This first level in learning Japanese language and culture should result in the acquisition of basic skills for oral and written communication in usual everyday situations.Admission Requirements

Students will learn about the Japanese language and culture through the materials given in class, like books, videos and online materials. Students will gain oral practice through dialogues and in daily simple exchanges. Students will practice writing with Roomaji, Hiragana and Katakana characters. After learning how to write students will be able to learn basic vocabulary, to read small texts and understand their meaning. Grammar (grammatical particles, nouns, phrases with desu and masu; question phrases; suffixes; numbers; adjectives. Japanese culture: habits, gestures, rituals, facial expressions and values like honor, protocol and the differences in language while being in or out, and experiencing the life-style.Qualification Requirements and Regulations
