French Conversation Course, Intermediate level

General Objectives of the Course

The course is aimed at all those who wish to strengthen, improve and develop their oral expression by debating and discussing current topics of great repercussion in French. Students are expected to acquire knowledge and skills in French corresponding to level B2.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Final grading: 0-20 points.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

At the end of the course, students are expected to acquire knowledge and skills in French corresponding to level B2.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and as such they will be able to:
- Understand and share information about current events and cultural issues:
(a) understand and talk about press articles and informational, descriptive and narrative texts;
b) request information and share it;
c) ask for information, comment on it, give an opinion on facts and events.
- In order to facilitate integration in French-speaking societies, students will be able to:
a) develop knowledge about public life, associations and political groups;
b) understand, defend and present ideas and points of view.

– In order to develop social interaction, students will strengthen their ability to:
a) talk about themselves, about memories, experiences and opinions
b) deal with delicate situations, ask questions, discuss problems of collective interest, motivate others, defend a cause;
c) act in situations related to health and well-being.

Graduation Requirements

As a rule, continuous assessment is the preferred system of evaluation. This requires 75% of class attendance and completion of two tests. Other elements, such as class participation, homework and tasks performed throughout the course, are also taken into account for evaluation. At the end of each level, students can request the corresponding certificate if the course has been successfully completed.
