General Objectives of the Course

This master degree aims to prepare students for the exercise of Psychology in the specialty of Education, Development and Counseling, endowing them with the scientific knowledge indispensable for understanding a multilevel model of intervention in which the psychologist's sphere is located working in educational contexts, the technical skills(integrated set of skills, capacities and attitudes needed to solve problems posed in the professional practice in educational contexts) and research skills (integrated set of knowledge and skills needed to design and conduct research in the broad domain of Psychology of Education), indispensable to the professional requirements of the exercise of Psychology in this specialty, enabling students to carry out the professional internship at OPP, an indispensable condition for obtaining the professional certification.

Admission Requirements

MPEDA entry requirements: Holders of a degree in Psychology or legal equivalent (Psychological Sciences); b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st study cycle, in the area of Psychology, organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a state adhering to this Process; c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized by the institution's statutory competent entity as meeting the objectives of the degree in Psychology.

Professional Goals

Acesso à realização de estágio profissional tutelado pela Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses e posterior inscrição na referida ordem, obrigatória para o exercício da profissão. Prática psicológica (avaliação e/ou intervenção) em contextos educativos formais (agrupamentos escolares/escolas não agrupadas, instituições de ensino superior), não formais (universidades seniores, lares de terceira idade, centros de dia e instituições similares, autarquias), serviços de pedopsiquiatria, centros educativos, IPSS e associações de intervenção comunitária, Organizações Não Governamentais (ONG’s), ANIP e instituições de intervenção precoce, centros de formação desportiva (ex.: Dragon Force), instituições de reabilitação psicossocial e de saúde mental, centros de emprego e formação profissional, clínicas/serviços de aconselhamento privados. O perfil ocupacional corresponde ao que está definido pela OPP (2017) no documento “Perfil dos Psicólogos da Educação”.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

São admitidos a provas de avaliação os estudantes inscritos nas uc’s no ano letivo a que as provas dizem respeito nos termos do nº 6 do artigo 4º do Regulamento Pedagógico da UC. Entendem-se por elementos de avaliação os seguintes ex.: Exame escrito ou oral, testes, trabalhos práticos/de campo, bem como projetos, que poderão ter de ser defendidos oralmente, e a participação nas aulas. A avaliação de cada uc pode incluir um ou mais dos elementos de avaliação indicados. A classificação de cada estudante, para cada uc, traduz-se num valor inteiro compreendido entre 0 e 20 valores e consideram-se aprovados os estudantes que obtiverem a classificação final mínima de 10 valores. Sempre que a avaliação de uma uc compreenda mais do que um elemento de avaliação, a nota final é calculada a partir das classificações obtidas em cada elemento de avaliação, através de uma fórmula tornada pública através da ficha anual de uc, nos termos do nº 2 do artigo 7º do RPUC e das Normas de Avaliação da FPCEUC.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Considering the technical and scientific references proposed and/or validated by the ME and OPP, as well as Decree- Law No. 54/2018, of 6 June, which establishes the bases of an inclusive school: - Knowledge of the main factors that enable the removal of barriers to the learning and the creation of inclusive contexts; - Solid knowledge in the fields of promoting psychological health and lifelong development; - Knowledge of the main models, consolidated and emerging, to support transitions and autonomous career management; - Skills in the fields of collaborative consultancy, neuropsychological assessment, SEN and career and early intervention; - Skills for psychological and psychopedagogical intervention in the academic, socio-emotional, behavioral and vocational domains; - Ability to prepare technical and scientific reports and recommendations; - Ability to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of interventions carried out.

Recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The present study cycle gives the degree of master according to the principles in DL 74/2006, of March 24, in its current wording, republished in DL 65/2018, of 16 and August.

Graduation Requirements

O grau de Mestre é conferido a quem realizar, com aproveitamento, o conjunto de unidades curriculares contempladas no plano de estudos do MPEDA, perfazendo um total de 120 ECTS, que incluem a realização e discussão pública de uma dissertação e de um relatório de estágio.
