General Objectives of the Course
The training provided in this course is aimed at foreign students interested in attaining a threshold level in Portuguese. Besides developing the skills required for a certain degree of linguistic autonomy, the course also promotes an understanding of the Portuguese reality and of Portuguese culture. An intercultural and communicative approach is emphasized.Admission Requirements
A2 level of Portuguese (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – https://europass.europa.eu/pt/common-european-framework-reference-language-skills).
Applicants whose applications have been formally submitted and validated will be ranked according to the date and time of submission. The first 25 applicants will be awarded the maximum ranking score (20 points). The remaining applicants will be ranked in descending order based on the date and time of application submission. If, after enrolment, not all places are filled, applicants on the waiting list will be admitted according to their ranking position.

According to the general goals set for level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL), upon completing this course, students should: (i) reveal discourse and pragmatic skills as to interact efficiently, with a certain degree of autonomy, with different types of speakers, in common situations of everyday life; (ii) interact with speakers in various contexts, in the private and public domains, namely in educational and professional contexts; (iii) produce structured and coherent statements on subjects of their interest; (iv) use, with a certain level of precision, a set of grammatical structures associated with relatively familiar and predictable situations. Thus, the goal is to work on the lexical and grammatical contents necessary for producing and understanding fluent, clear and coherent statements related to the majority of situations that an independent user may encounter in everyday life, both orally and in writing.Qualification Requirements and Regulations
