General Objectives of the Course
FEUC's mission is to contribute to a greater economic literacy of the Portuguese people. There are multiple examples of the harm individuals and their families face due to poorly reasoned economic decisions nonetheless avoidable if literacy were higher. Secondary school teachers of economics are the main recipients of these scientific courses in economics. FEUC intends to promote the update of their economic knowledge throughout lifelong learning. This course is part of a more global project aimed to intensify the academic relationships between FEUC and secondary school teachers of economics and students entitled 2D2E: Discover Discuss Teach Economics.Admission Requirements

The final grade will have a quantitative character (insufficient – 1 to 4,9 values; regular – 5 to 6,4 values; good – 6,5 to 7,9 values; very good – 8 to 8,9 values and excellent – 9 to 10 values) in the terms of the circular letter nº 3/2007 of the CCPFC. The students who do not have a final grade of 5 will not be certified. The students’ approval still depends of completing all activities throughout the course.Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
1 – To analyse topics from the five modules of the course applied to EMU and EU countries through numbers and figures;2 - To improve the knowledge about several databases that include economic indicators relevant to the analysis of macroeconomic phenomena;
3 – To select the most appropriate economic indicators suited to the quantitative description of a given economic topic;
4 – To build the database;
5 – To decide the kind of analysis to be implemented;
6 – To choose the most suitable languages: numbers presented in tables and the type of tables or figures and the type of figures or even a mix for the written presentation the topic.
