General Objectives of the Course
The course aims at developing students’ linguistic skills in Portuguese such as to enable them, among other goals, to initiate an academic program in one of the partner universities. Besides developing the competences required for a high degree of linguistic autonomy, the course also promotes an understanding of the Portuguese reality and of the Portuguese culture. An intercultural approach is favored, contributing to mutual knowledge and to the understanding of the rich linguistic and cultural diversity offered by globalization. As such, the course furthermore aims at fostering multilingual a multicultural awareness, by promoting the Portuguese language and Portuguese culture.Admission Requirements
B2 level of Portuguese (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – https://europass.europa.eu/pt/common-european-framework-reference-language-skills).
Applicants whose applications have been formally submitted and validated will be ranked according to the date and time of submission. The first 25 applicants will be awarded the maximum ranking score (20 points). The remaining applicants will be ranked in descending order based on the date and time of application submission. If, after enrolment, not all places are filled, applicants on the waiting list will be admitted according to their ranking position.

At the end of the course, the student should be able to:(i) use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes;
(ii) follow a wide range of themes, to read and to understand long and demanding texts, recognizing implicit meaning;
(iii) express ideas fluently and spontaneously without major hesitations in oral interaction;
(iv) produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects;
(v) express him/herself, in writing, in an organized and coherent manner, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
