Non Degree Course
General Objectives of the CourseThe proposed course is devoted to the transmission of advanced topics in the field of acoustical and thermo-energetic behavior of new and existing buildings. Besides presenting an important component in the area of acoustic and thermal / energy performance, this course also seeks to introduce a perspective on the acoustic and thermal rehabilitation of the built environment, as well as an overview of the concerns with the adoption of solutions that contribute to a more sustainable construction. It is intended, with this course, to provide students with fundamental knowledge on the identified topics that are useful from the practical application point of view, and form a significant added value in relation to what is traditionally taught in more general integrated master's programs. Another objective is to transmit advanced knowledge to technicians who work in the area of buildings, that allows them to make decisions in practical problems on an informed basis and having up-to-date knowledge.
Learning Objectives and Intended SkillsIt is intended that, at the end of this course, the students have acquired advanced knowledge in the areas of acoustics and energy in buildings that allow them to:
- Understand the relevant physical phenomena related to buildings;
- Understand the importance of those themes in new buildings and rehabilitation of buildings;
- Understand the relevance of acoustic and energy performance for sustainable construction;
- Analyze and propose solutions to practical problems in the covered areas.
