The Geography of Migration in Cinema. Didatical Approach in the Context of the Classroom
General Objectives of the Course
Acquire theoretical knowledge in the subject of geography of migrations (concepts, theories and models); analyze the characteristics of the several Portuguese migration cycles – 20th and 21st centuries; reflect about the role of immigrants in society and Portuguese landscape; identify and analyze film resources with interest to explore in the context of the class room; build work instruments relating the cinema perspective with the theoretical contents of geography in migrations.Admission Requirements
To have concluded higher education in Geography or other areas of knowledge related to the subject of the course, as it is necessary to master Human Geography terminology.
For the purposes of evaluation and seriation of applications, a curricular evaluation will be carried out.

The grading will consist of the presentation of a “Book of Materials – Filmic Analysis in Geography of Migrations”, with the work instruments built by the students. It will be valued as 100% of the final grade, which will have a quantitative character (insufficient – 1 to 4,9 values; regular – 5 to 6,4 values; good – 6,5 to 7,9 values; very good – 8 to 8,9 values and excellent – 9 to 10 values) in the terms of the circular letter nº 3/2007 of the CCPFC.The students who do not have a final grade of 5 will not be certified. The students’ approval still depends of completing all activities throughout the course.
Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
The students must be able to use the film as work instrument in learning context in the class room. Thus they should cross three dimensions: program contents of the several levels of the Geography discipline; theoretical-scientific approach resulting from academic research in geography of migrations; cinema as area and film as instrument of learning work.Qualification Requirements and Regulations
