General Objectives of the CourseAcquire theoretical knowledge in the subject of geography of migrations (concepts, theories and models); analyze the characteristics of the several Portuguese migration cycles – 20th and 21st centuries; reflect about the role of immigrants in society and Portuguese landscape; identify and analyze film resources with interest to explore in the context of the class room; build work instruments relating the cinema perspective with the theoretical contents of geography in migrations.
Learning Objectives and Intended SkillsThe students must be able to use the film as work instrument in learning context in the class room. Thus they should cross three dimensions: program contents of the several levels of the Geography discipline; theoretical-scientific approach resulting from academic research in geography of migrations; cinema as area and film as instrument of learning work.
Mode of StudyE-learning
Be over 18 years of age; having the necessary conditions for the online frequency of the course, namely a computer with internet access, have a degree in Geography or any other related area of the course’s subject.

Qualification Requirements and RegulationsRegulation n.º 339/2012, published in Official Gazette n.º 152, 2. Grade, August 7th (Regulation of Creation and Operation of Non Degree Courses at the UC)
Examination Regulations, Assessment and GradingThe grading will consist of the presentation of a “Book of Materials – Filmic Analysis in Geography of Migrations”, with the work instruments built by the students. It will be valued as 100% of the final grade, which will have a quantitative character (insufficient – 1 to 4,9 values; regular – 5 to 6,4 values; good – 6,5 to 7,9 values; very good – 8 to 8,9 values and excellent – 9 to 10 values) in the terms of the circular letter nº 3/2007 of the CCPFC.
The students who do not have a final grade of 5 will not be certified. The students’ approval still depends of completing all activities throughout the course.
