General Objectives of the Course

To develop international students’ basic linguistic and communicative skills (level A1 to level B1), enabling them to follow the UC academic programmes taught in Portuguese.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The final grade, on a scale of 0-20, is the mean of those obtained by the student in each curricular unit of the programme. Grades in each curricular unit take into account the results of a continuous assessment (60%) and of a final test (40%).

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

The student is expected to be able to:
•understand and use basic vocabulary and grammatical structures at a beginner/ pre-intermediate level;
•apprehend the main ideas conveyed in texts written in Portuguese;
•interact in common daily situations;
•apprehend the main ideas conveyed by speakers of Portuguese in common daily interactions.
