Training Course: Introduction to Chinese Language and Overview of Contemporary China
General Objectives of the CourseThis course intends to provide some essential Chinese expressions for daily usage, as well as some cultural, political and economic aspects of contemporary Chinese society.

Learning Objectives and Intended SkillsAt the end of this course, students should be able to make a simple presentation in Chinese, about themselves, about their families and about their daily routine; make a simple dialogue in basic Chinese; know about some important current aspects of contemporary Chinese society.

Qualification Requirements and RegulationsRegulation n.º 339/2012, published in Official Gazette no. 152, 2. Grade, August 7th (Regulation of Creation and Operation of non-degree courses at the UC).
As a rule, continuous assessment is the preferred evaluation mode: this requires 75% attendance and completion of two tests. Other elements, such as class participation, homework and tasks performed throughout the course, are also taken into account for evaluation. At the end of each level, students can request the corresponding certificate, if the course has been successfully completed.
