Training Course in Geographic Information Systems - Elementary level
General Objectives of the Course
Tuition on the elementary fundamentals of digital geographic information as well as on associate information technologies.Admission Requirements
Eligible applicants are technicians or chartered engineers, from either private or public institutions, whose professional activity deals with the need of storing, manipulating, and managing geospatial information and thus need to update their GIS technology skills. Applicant selection will be based upon both Curriculum Vitae and personal motivations.

Applicants will have to accomplish a course work individually or in groups. The successful completion of the course implies that a candidate obtains a final mark greater than or equal to 10 (out of 20).Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
Participants will come across all different types of geospatial data that can be stored in a GIS, will learn how to introduce them into the system and how to geo-reference them accordingly. They will also learn how to associate alphanumeric data to graphic data (represented by geometric objects). This course will provide participants with the required skills for both vector and raster data editing and for performing standard operations on these data formats. Fundamentals on cartographic representation and symbology will be given towards thematic mapping. Finally, it is expected that participants will be able to perform by the end of the course basic spatial analysis operations in GIS environment.Qualification Requirements and Regulations
