Bachelor's Degree in Informatics Engineering

General Objectives of the Course

TThe main objective of the Informatics Engineering degree is to provide its students and future informatics engineers with a broad spectrum of theoretical knowledge, methods and practical skills that allow them to continue their studies to more advanced cycles, such as master's or doctoral degrees, as well as enable their direct access to professional careers in the computing area in a vast set of domains. Traditionally, the degree has taken into account the recommendations of international organizations, such as IEEE/ACM/AIS, as well as aspects considered to be relevant to the practice of the profession by the National Engineers Association (Ordem dos Engenheiros).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Since the evaluation is a pedagogical activity that is inseparable from teaching, it is designed to assess the skills and knowledge acquired by the students, their critical thinking, their ability to enunciate and solve problems, as well as their mastery of written and oral exposition. The LEI evaluation rules follow the Regulation of Knowledge Evaluation of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra published in Diário da República, 2nd series - No. 74 - April 16, 2018. The evaluation of the curricular units is carried out taking into account their specificities. Some of the curricular units are evaluated by final exam, while others follow the periodic assessment model, including evaluation methods with problem solving, laboratory work, written assignments, projects, and presentations, among others.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
