General Objectives of the Course

The course aims to equip nurses in clinical practice with the knowledge and skills to understand, critically analyse, and responsibly use Artificial Intelligence tools applied to the nursing decision-making process. It seeks to strengthen digital literacy, the ability to assess the reliability of AI systems, the ethical integration of these technologies into care delivery, and the development of reflective, evidence-informed thinking regarding their potential and limitations.

To hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or a legally equivalent qualification, awarded by a Portuguese higher education institution.

Quantitative evaluation on a scale of 0-20 values. Online written assessment.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Develop a responsible professional practice in informed decision-making in the context of AI applied to nursing. (Domain A - Professional, ethical and legal responsibility) ; act in accordance with the fundamentals of care provision, by using AI platforms to support clinical decision-making. (Domain B - Care provision and management); promoting health and a safe environment through critical use of AI systems in nursing care. (Domain B - Care provision and management); evaluate and integrate the nursing process and interaction in an interdisciplinary team with AI support. (Domain B-Care provision and management); contribute to the continuous improvement of quality of care by developing skills in AI, digital literacy and continuing education. (Area C-Professional development); develop continuous training and participate in IT learning processes and ethics in care assisted by AI. (Domain C-Professional Development).
