General Objectives of the Course

As part of the University of Coimbra’s program to promote academic success and
combat dropout rates (On-Board Plus), this “First Aid - Learn how to act to save” training aims to prepare students for initial response by equipping them with technical skills that enable them to recognize medical emergencies early on and perform Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures; promote health and safety literacy in the academic context; foster resilience and a spirit of mutual aid, reinforcing a sense of belonging to the University of Coimbra community; and develop cross-cutting skills such as stress management, decision-making, and leadership in critical situations.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Qualitative assessment with pass/fail grading system. To pass, participants must attend the full session (2 hours). Attendance is the sole criterion for assessment in this short-format course.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Students will develop technical skills that enable them to recognize medical emergencies early on and perform Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures; and soft skills such as stress management, decision-making, and leadership in critical situations.
