General Objectives of the Course

The course aims to train healthcare professionals who work with children and families
in the practical application of the Let’s Talk About Children (LTC) methodology. This is a short evidence-based, child- and family-centred psychosocial intervention whose main goal is to promote children’s mental health and prevent the intergenerational transmission of mental health problems. The course is designed to train professionals who work with families with specific skills that are essential for the early recognition of the psychosocial needs of children and their families.

Admission Requirements

1) Healthcare professionals: doctors, nurses, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists with an interest in the mental health of children and young people, 2) with contact with children and families, and 3) the ability to include families in the practical implementation of the LTC methodology.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

1) Understand the principles and foundations of the LTC methodology and its practical application; 2) Understand the core concepts of the LTC methodology: strengths,
vulnerabilities, action plan, network meeting, and shared understanding; 3) Apply the LTC methodology using the logbooks; 4) Develop the ability to advise parents and families on how to communicate with children about mental health.
