General Objectives of the Course

This course aims to equip participants with the basic knowledge and skills needed to understand and successfully deal with the issues associated with the use of artificial intelligence in local authorities in its various dimensions. The course adopts an approach that uses innovative AI-based teaching methods and assumes a predominantly practical, experiential learning vocation, seeking to develop critical thinking and risk assessment skills, and to provide theoretical and practical tools to support the balancing and decision of AI use, answering fundamental questions about the "if," "how," "when," "why," and "for what purpose" to use AI to improve local governance.

Qualitative Evaluation: in a scale of Approved/Reproved.

The course will run entirely asynchronously and can be managed independently by each participant . Obtaining the qualification depends on the development of all proposed activities and the successful completion of the planned exercises.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Understand the opportunities and risks of AI in digital transformation processes in local government. Analyse the contracting of AI solutions by local authorities. Understand the role of digital infrastructures in strengthening smart local governance, analysing the legal, technical and social opportunities and challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in public services and civic participation).
