Master in Arts Management and Cultural Policies in Transition
General Objectives of the Course
This Master deepens knowledge and practices related to the field of public and environmental humanities. Positioned at theintersection of arts, humanities, public sphere, and contemporary social challenges, it develops reflective skills emerging in the arts
and culture sector, particularly for those who design, manage or lead cultural and artistic organizations and projects. It highlights the political, practical, ethical, and aesthetic connections between artistic and
cultural practices and the context of ecological emergency, aiming to:
1. Establish links between the multiple contemporary challenges posed by sustainability and the formulation, implementation, and
evaluation of cultural policies;
2. Discuss different possibilities for reconfiguring management, production, and programming in the cultural and artistic field in
response to the ecological transition;
3. Debate concepts and practices of ecocriticism and eco-art;
4. Develop micro research or applied intervention projects.
Admission Requirements
Anyone with a degree in the arts, humanities or social sciences can apply. The following may also apply:
1. holders of a foreign higher academic degree awarded following a 1st cycle of cycle of studies, organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process;
2. holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a bachelor's degree;
3. people with an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting their ability to complete this cycle of studies.
A prerequisite for entry to the course is proficiency in English at a level equivalent to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Assessment is a pedagogical activity inseparable from teaching, aimed at refining the skills and knowledge acquired by students, their pro-activity and critical and synthetic spirit, their ability to state and solve problems, as well as their mastery of communication. written and oral. Students enrolled in the respective curricular units in the academic year to which the tests relate and, simultaneously, registered in these tests are admitted to assessment tests, when such registration is necessary, in accordance with the regulations of the University of Coimbra. Assessment elements include the following examples: written assignments, oral presentations, comments, individual or group projects, attendance and class participation. The assessment of each curricular unit may include one or more of the indicated assessment elements, and students must be aware of the weighting of each component in the final assessment, in accordance with the regulations of the University of Coimbra. The classification of each student, for each curricular unit, translates into an integer value between 0 and 20 values and students who obtain a minimum final classification of 10 values are considered approved. Approval in the Dissertation or Internship/Report or Project curricular units includes a public defense exam of the work developed before a jury of experts in the field in which it falls, in accordance with the Academic Regulations of the University of Coimbra (RAUC).Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
At the end of the program, students should be able to:1. Identify connections between contemporary sustainability challenges and cultural policies;
2. Formulate, implement, and evaluate cultural policies and management strategies for artistic and cultural organizations
3. Design cultural programming proposals incorporating « audience development strategies and eco-critical discourses;
4. Distinguish different modes of creative production and arts management, as well as their implications for leadership and
governance in cultural organizations;
5. Develop a cultural project, outlining its implementation phases and ensuring its execution;
6. Understand key debates in the field of critical sustainability as applied to cultural organizations;
7. Develop micro research or applied intervention projects for cultural organizations and initiatives.
