Training Course in: Artificial Intelligence and Decision-Making in Nursing

General Objectives of the Course

The course aims to empower nursing students to understand, critically analyse and responsibly use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools applied to the decision-making process in nursing. It intends to promote digital literacy, evaluation of the reliability of AI systems, ethical integration of technology in care and the development of reflective and informed thinking in light of the opportunities and risks of its use.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Online written assessment - Quantitative evaluation in a scale of 0-20 values. Certification requires participation in at least 80% of the activities and passing the final assessment.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Develop a professional practice with responsibility, leveraging informed and conscious decision-making in the context of AI applied to nursing. (Domain A – Professional responsibility, ethics and legal); Operate in accordance with the fundamentals of care provision and management, incorporating the use of AI platforms for clinical decision support. (Domain B – Care provision and management); Contribute to health promotion and a safe environment through the critical and validated use of AI systems in nursing care. (Domain B – Care provision and management); Evaluate and integrate the nursing process and interdisciplinary team interaction with AI support, including effective communication and human supervision. (Domain B – Care provision and management); Contribute to continuous quality improvement of care by developing emerging competences in AI, digital literacy and lifelong learning. (Domain C – Professional development); Engage in lifelong learning and participate in learning processes related to technological innovation and ethics in AI-assisted care.
