C4RE Training Course: Understanding, Supporting, and Reducing Stigma - Peer Support Program
General Objectives of the Course
- Prevent mental illness, promote mental health, and improve the emotional well-being of higher education students by reducing stigma and promoting mental health literacy;- Promote the development of a network-based intervention system in the Stepped Care format, focusing on assessment, support, and referrals by Peers – Social Gatekeepers – that connects students with the UC Health Services;
- Improve, facilitate, and promote access to Health Services, especially psychological intervention;
- Improve the response of Health Services in higher education by directing specialized resources in the area of mental health more efficiently.

Mental health literacy; reducing stigma regarding mental illness; interpersonal skills (compassion, social connection); skills that promote resilience and emotional well-being in relationships with oneself (adaptive emotional regulation strategies, self-compassion, self-efficacy); skills for recognizing and signaling situations of significant emotional distress (in the self and in others); helping colleagues with basic emotion management; skills for screening priority cases of emotional distress; referral of cases of emotional distress to the MHWBS.Qualification Requirements and Regulations
