Training Course: Digitalization in Health - Databases and Information Analysis
General Objectives of the Course
Understand the fundamental principles of health data organization, apply basic data processing and analysis techniques, and recognize essential ethical issues in clinical information management.Specific:
Distinguish between cases and variables in a database and identify different types of variables (categorical, numeric, dates)
Organize data in appropriate formats (long vs. wide)
Properly document the processes of organizing a database
Create and manage simple databases
Identify and treat outliers and missing data, applying simple imputation techniques
Formulate research questions and identify the variables needed to answer them
Perform basic descriptive analyses and create appropriate data visualizations
Recognize the basic principles of the GDPR and apply good practices for data protection in health.

The assessment will be based on the completion of the practical tasks proposed throughout the sessions, with a final classification of approved/not approved.Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
Students will learn how to structure and organize databases, distinguishing cases from variables and identifying different types of data. They will develop practical skills to address data quality issues, such as outliers and missing data, applying appropriate correction techniques.In the analytical domain, they will acquire skills in descriptive analysis and data visualization, enabling them to formulate research questions and extract insights from clinical information. In parallel, the course ensures solid ethical training, addressing the principles of the GDPR and good practices for protecting sensitive data.
