Specialization course on After Action Review

General Objectives of the Course

It is expected that, after attending this certification, SGIFR agents with
responsibility for reconstructing and analyzing rural fire interventions will be able to identify relevant rural fire incidents with the potential to create lessons learned, identify and analyze the determining factors for the events, to organize participatory processes for reconstructing events, to focus on the event rather than personal responsibilities, to identify the interconnection between the various stages of the process chain that are relevant to the success of the intervention, to identify and propose aspects for future improvement (lessons learned), in particular the cohesion of organizational structures.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

40% from the problem solving exercises and 60% from the synthesis work provided, being both evaluated in a range between 0 and 20 values.

- After-event performance analysis: analysis references, event review, involvement of organisations and possible limitations.
- Tools for post-event analysis.
- Communication and facilitation in a team context.
- Systematising learning and developing actions.
- AAR case studies in rural fires.
- AAR case studies in extreme and complex rural fires.
