Training Course in: Ethics and Deontology in Information Services Fundamentals - for teachers

General Objectives of the Course

At the end, it is intended that students discover the importance of Information
Ethics in the info-communication process, distinguish Ethics from Deontology and put the theme in focus in the present and future of the Information Age.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The evaluation of the trainees will be made on a quantitative scale, from 1 to 10 values, in accordance with paragraph 6 of Article 4 of Order 4595/2015, of 6 May: - Excellent - from 9 to 10 values; - Very Good - from 8 to 8.9 values; - Good - from 6.5 to 7.9 values; - Regular - from 5 to 6.4 values; - Insufficient - from 1 to 4.9.

Students will be deemed successful if they obtain a classification equal to or higher than 5/20 and if they attend 2/3 of the specified number of joint contact hours;
At the beginning of the course, the evaluation parameters will be clarified with the trainees.

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Ethical Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of the ethical
principles that govern information services, including privacy, transparency, impartiality and social responsibility;
Critical Analysis: Ability to analyze complex ethical situations in the field of information, identifying ethical dilemmas and proposing well-founded ethical solutions;
Legal Awareness: Acquire knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to information management, ensuring compliance and avoiding illegal practices;
Social Responsibility: Recognize the importance of social responsibility in information management, considering the impact of decisions on society in general and contributing to social well-being.

Graduation Requirements

Students will be deemed successful if they obtain a classification equal to or higher than 5/20 and if they attend 2/3 of the specified number of joint contact hours.

Access to Further Studies

Successful completion of this training is a preferential criterion for entry into the Postgraduate Course in Management of Information Services for Archive, Library and Museum, as long as the admission conditions are met and in accordance with the number of defined vacancies. Graduates who subsequently enter Postgraduate Studies will have this training recognized in the corresponding Postgraduate curricular unit.
