Training Course in Fundamentals of Media and Information Literacy - for teachers
General Objectives of the Course
At the end of the module, students must know the methods of scientific research,understand the criteria for evaluating information sources and the challenges of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and scientific research. In the process, they must be able to identify integrity mechanisms and digital platforms and tools associated with scientific research processes.

Mandatory presence in 2/3 of the training contact hours; Application of what is determined in the Legal regime for Continuous Training of teachers, Decree-law nº 22/2014, of February 11th, combined with Order nº 4595/2015, of May 6th and with the “Regulation for Accreditation and Crediting of Actions of Continuous formation. The classification of each trainee will be carried out on a scale of 1 to 10 as indicated in Order no. 4595/2015, of May 6, respecting all legal provisions for continuous assessment. Final classification is assigned based on a scale of 1 to 10 points, where: 9 to 10 = Excellent; 8 to 8.9 = Very Good; 7 to 7.9 = Good; 5 to 6.9 = Fair; 1 to 4.9 values = Insufficie.Learning Objectives and Intended Skills
Throughout the course, students will acquire crucial skills, such asmastering the steps of the scientific research process, allowing them to conduct rigorous and well-founded analyses. Furthermore, they will learn to evaluate sources of scientific information critically, using solid criteria to discern the reliability and relevance of different resources. The exploration and effective use of digital platforms and tools for evaluating sources will be an additional skill, enhancing students' ability to extract the maximum amount of information from varied sources. The course also addresses fundamental issues related to integrity, including understanding and preventing plagiarism, as well as understanding copyright and intellectual creations. Finally, students will be challenged to explore the impacts of Artificial Intelligence on teaching and scientific research, using ChatGPT as a case study, providing them with a valuable perspective
on the technological advances that will shape the future of information and communication.
