Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation follows procedures and regulations approved by the consortium institutions https://ec2u.eu/ec2u-master-programmes/european-languages-cultures-and-societies-in-contact/. As it is not dissociated from teaching, evaluation aims at ascertaining skills and knowledge acquired by students, their critical skills, their ability to articulate and solve problems, their mastery of written and oral exposition. At the UC, the evaluation assignments are defined in the teaching syllabus for each curricular unit and include written essays, oral presentations, individual or group projects, attendance and participation in class. The classification of each student, for each curricular unit, translates into an integer value between 0 and 20, and students who have obtained the final classification of 10 are considered approved. Whenever the evaluation of a curricular unit comprises more than one evaluation element, the final mark is calculated from the marks obtained in each evaluation element, by means of a formula which is made public in the curricular unit description, in accordance with article 113 of the RAUC [Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra, https://www.uc.pt/fpce/normas/Regulamento_805_A_2020_24_09_RAUC.pdf]. The final grade of the student results from a formula that includes the curricular component of the programme and the defence of the dissertation, in co-supervision.
