Postgraduate degree in Structural Concrete
General Objectives of the Course
Updating the knowledge and skills of professionals with a bachelor's degree or a master’s degree in civil engineering, within the scope of structural concrete and reinforced concrete construction.More specifically, the update is in three areas not covered by conventional courses in civil engineering: (1) rehabilitation of structures; (2) new regulations, notably in the framework of the Portuguese Decreto-Lei 95/2019 and the new generation of Eurocodes; (3) digitalisation in construction. The course covers the conception, design, management, preparation, construction, supervision, inspection and evaluation, maintenance and rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures.
Admission Requirements
Holders of first cycle (bachelor) courses or equivalent in Civil Engineering
or other related areas.

• To know and apply the new regulamentation and standards of Portugal and the EU in the field of structural concrete;• To apply computational tools to support the creation, modelling, analysis, design and management of the reinforced concrete project;
• To apply computational information tools in the management of the project of buildings and others structures (BIM);
• To develop projects of structures of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete;
• Inspection and assessment of existing reinforced concrete structures;
• To develop rehabilitation or modification projects of reinforced concrete structures;
• To assess the seismic vulnerability of existing reinforced concrete structures;
• To develop seismic rehabilitation projects of reinforced concrete structures;
• To develop reinforced concrete prefabrication projects;
• To develop simple projects of foundations and earth retaining structures.
