Post graduate course in Coastal Tourism, sustainability and culture

General Objectives of the Course

This post graduate course, based on a holistic approach to some of the anthropogenic dynamics that happen in coastal territories, with special emphasis on the opportunities and challenges associated with leisure and tourism activities as drivers of Blue Growth, has the following main objectives: -Integrate the sciences social in the training offer associated with the sea cluster and coastal areas; - To translate, into an innovative and integrated training offer, the anthropogenic dynamics highlighted in the National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030 and in the XXI Litoral Action Plan; specifically: i) circular and sustainable blue economy, ii) health and well-being of coastal populations, iii) education and training and iv) climate change. - Provide an innovative postgraduate training offer in Portugal, focusing on processes and value propositions associated with aquatic environments, namely tourism, leisure and heritage.

Admission Requirements

Possess a bachelor's degree or, in the absence of such academic training, hold a school, scientific or professional curriculum considered relevant for attending this course by the respective management team.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The final grade of the course will correspond to the (arithmetic) average of the grades obtained in each of the seven curricular units. It will be presented on a quantitative scale (minimum: 0; maximum: 20 values).

Learning Objectives and Intended Skills

Critically analyze and evaluate situations associated with the sea cluster; interpret natural and anthropic dynamics and processes; recognize and make an inventory of the material and immaterial coastal heritage; reflect on the importance of tourism in coastal and maritime activities; identify and compare best practices within the blue economy and coastal communities; understand the systemic value of sustainability at the land/sea interface.
