Master’s Degree in Economics

General Objectives of the Course

The Master in Economics aims to enable its students to exercise the profession of economist, both in the business field and in planning, regulatory and administrative functions. To this end, it provides general training in various fields of economic and econometric analysis, in parallel with specialized training in financial economics/finance and with the possibility of deepening knowledge in other areas of economics, depending on the option selected. It also provides the choice of a reasonable range of optional CUs, leaving the student some margin to choose their path, respecting national and international best practices.
It is also intended that students develop: a) autonomous analytical skills, through the elaboration of an original project work, under the guidance of a faculty member; or b) the ability to solve concrete problems in a working environment, in this case under the guidance of a faculty member and a manager indicated by the host institution.

Admission Requirements

Candidates are selected based on three criteria: academic curriculum, professional curriculum and motivation. In the first criterion, preference will be given to students with a background in economics and related areas, from reputable universities. The second criterion values activities developed in the area of economics, or those that demonstrate proactivity. The third criterion is that the
candidate must show a clear interest in studying economics at FEUC. The specific aspects to be valued in each of the 3 partial assessments, and the way to weight them, will be disclosed in the annual call for applications.
