Training Course Strategic Planning in Culture

General Objectives of the Course

The course aims to provide participants with up-to-date knowledge about local cultural policies and network governance, as well as analytical tools that allow them to develop strategic planning processes applicable to their organizations.

Admission Requirements

Civil servants and other public officers working in culture services at city councils or equivalent,with at least a BA degree in the field of arts, humanities or social sciences. Additionally, holders of BA degree in the mentioned degrees, currently working in public or private cultural institutions.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Scale 0-20. The assessment will consist of weighing active participation in class (30%) and solving a practical exercise, in writing (70%). The exercise proposal for evaluation must be defined no later than the third session of the course, and must be sent by email to the teacher, within 10 days after completion of the course.

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:
critically reflect on the foundations, risks and relevance of strategic planning in the field of culture;
establish links between the contemporary challenges of cultural policies and local cultural intervention;
identify the processes, tools and methodologies relevant to the exercise of strategic planning.
to develop analytical processes that are part of the strategic planning exercise.
