Luís Miguel dos Santos Laím is a Civil Engineer and holds a Ph.D. in Fire Safety Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Coimbra (UC), completed in 2013 and approved unanimously with distinction and honour. He is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Coimbra. His principal research interests lie in the areas of Structural fire engineering; Fire testing methods; Structural analysis and design; Fire design; Buckling phenomenon; Steel and composite structures; Structural optimization; Building Information Modeling (BIM). He is a researcher member in the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE). He has been teaching at UC since 2014 and is (co-)author of several publications in international periodicals (https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=35327263900). In addition, he presented many research papers in conferences, a bit around the world (such as, in Brazil, Czech Republic, Sweden, Turkey, USA, China, Canada and so on) and was co-supervisor of several Master's Degree Dissertations and a few PhD Thesis published in UC. He has been involved in Scientific Research and Technological Development Project Grants, since 2012. He has also cooperated regularly in consultancy works, research and development and transfer of knowledge in the framework of the research unit ISISE and the fire laboratory, FireLab, of UC. Finally, he has also been a member of Organizing and Scientific Committees of several conferences since 2014, as well as a periodical reviewer for well-known scientific journals.
