I am an associate professor in the Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra (DMUC), and also a member of the Centre for Mathematics of the University of Coimbra (CMUC).
My research has been mostly around semigroup theory and its connections with symbolic dynamics. See the book Profinite Semigroups and Symbolic Dynamics.
Besides research and teaching, I also dedicate some of my professional time to outreach activities.
