Licínio Roque is Associate Professor at DEI FCTUC and coordinates the CISUC Information Systems group and the UC Computational Media Design PhD Program. His research started with an STS and socio-technical systems perspective on Information Systems Development methodology, focusing on the role of context in development processes. His current research focuses on Participatory Media, mainly the design and evaluation of shared computational media objects and services to empower creative collaborations. He was principal researcher on various research/industry projects: workload control management in the mold industry (MAPP), e-governance and digital transformation in the social sector (ADMITRON), social innovation through creative cultural industries (TRANSCREATIVA), player-generated content and end-user development of games (YOURGAME), rapid prototyping of mobile AR gameplay (ADVENTURE), signaling of cognitive decay, play-based multisensory stimulation, Game-Based Learning (FlorestaViva), gamification of knowledge bases (MIT.EDP), and design insights for data science instruments (INSIGHTZAI), design of play probes for Condition-Based Maintenance in the aeronautical industry (ReMAP), empowering youngsters through game-based learning and citizen science (Science4Pandemics) and simulation-based training to fight pollution at sea and coastal areas (MPCS) He has an extensive methodological experience connecting the areas of HCI, SE and ISD, and extensive research in Interaction Design, Game Design and related technologies. Founder and coordinator of the Computational Media Design Doctoral Program at University of Coimbra. He was Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Visiting Professor at Aarhus University’s CMA group. He was co-Founder of SPCVIDEOJOGOS and Tapestry Software Lda.
