Recommended Prerequisites

We recommend, although it is not complusory, that the students have completed the curricular unit of Forensic Psychology.

Teaching Methods

Classes will include access to expositive methods, group work of analysis/ reflection and case comment; role-play to apply intervention strategies and programmes, dynamisation of themes previously dealt with by the students individually.

Learning Outcomes

General Aim:

- To promote the assessement of knowledge and the development of intervention skills with individuals who have expereienced vitimisation.


Specific aims:

- To know the several contexts of vitimisation and the impacts of that vitimisation

- To know the intervention models, approaches and programes with the diferente types of victims

- To develop the necessary competencies for the intervention with victims of violence.


Theoretical Competencies, the students should:

- Know the diferente intervention models, approaches and programes with the victims;

- Be able to identify intervention protocols adjusted to the specific situations of victimisation


Practical Competencies, Students should:

- Be able to create / elaborate/ design intervetion protocols adjusted to specific situations of vitimisation

- To identify from case analysis the potential, the difficulties and the limits of the various interventions in particular vitimisation situations

Syllabus

Theoretical Framework on the different types of vitimisation.

Theoretical revision on the impact and consequences of vitimisation

Intervention with children victims of abuse and parental negligence: programes based on Narrative Models of re-authorship (e.g. M. White); programes of development of social and emotional skills (e.g. H. Giarretto).

Intervention with institutionalised victims (e.g. (Intervention Programmes with victims of violence in intimate relashionships (e.g.security plan; programes of group intervention; promotion of sel-esteem and project of life)

Intervention with victims of child-parent violence

Intervention Programmes with elderly victims of abuse/ negligence.

Prevention programes for risk of re-vitimisation

Models of primary and secondary intervention of the different types of victimisation.
