Recommended Prerequisites

It is advisable that students have already done the following subjects: Behaviour Modification, Cognitive Models in Clinical Psychology, Psychopathology I and II, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies in Adults I.

Teaching Methods

Lectures and interactive methods. Participant modeling, role playing, case analysis and discussion, and constructive feedback.

Learning Outcomes

This subject focuses on the conceptualization and development of cognitive therapies, especially on the integration of interpersonal and emotional processes in the state of the art of cognitive therapy. After discussing change mechanisms and processes, the most important therapeutic strategies/techniques in cognitive therapy will be illustrated.

Learning outcomes

1. Theoretical and practical knowledge of the cognitive psychotherapy process.

2. Reflection on the interaction of the components of the cognitive psychotherapy process: therapeutic relationship, socialization with the cognitive approach to psychopathology, case formulation, and the different therapeutic techniques used in the cognitive therapy approach.

3. Practical skills on these components of psychotherapy and the correct execution of the most widely used techniques, according to the specific factors of the patient and of the problem at hand.
