Teaching Methods
Lectures, slides, testing material, training with testing materials, evaluation of protocols, summaries, bibliography (books, chapters, articles, other texts, slides presented in class). The testing materials can be found in the “Testoteca”, in the Teaching and Research Support Office - Gabinete de Apoio à Investigação e Docência, and in the Psychological Assessment Lab - Laboratório de Avaliação Psicológica).
Learning Outcomes
Obiectives: 1. To know the neuropsychological assessment process and protocols. 2. To know some of the major neuropsychological assessment tests covering different neurocognitive fields, including their potential and limits.
Learning Outcomes: 1. To be competent in neuropsychological test administration, scoring and interpretation. 2. To be able to articulate and communicate the information obtained (from interview, clinical history and the tests) to write neuropsychological case reports. 3. To understand the complexity of the neuropsychological assessment. 4. To understand current neuropaediatric and forensic neuropsychological assessment issues.

1. Neuropsychological Assessment: Basic library (books, periodicals, publishers of tests), history, principles, aims, use contexts and process.
2. Interview and clinical history.
3. Neuropsychological Tests: administration, scoring and interpretation.
4. Neuropsychological Tests by assessment domains: Memory, Attention, Executive Functions, Visual perception, Language, Motor skills, Laterality, Orientation.
5. Coimbra’s Neuropsychological Assessment Battery. Use in the examination of different clinical and educational conditions (epilepsy, ADHD, TBI).
6. Neuropsychological report.
7. Special issues in neuropsychological assessment: paediatric and forensic neuropsychology.
