Learning Outcomes

This unit focuses on notions and processes in organisational psychology assessment and intervention. It addresses the specificities of organisations, the role of organisational psychologists, and the three levels of analysis in the organisational context: individual, group and organisational.

Theoretical competencies

- To contribute to the acknowledgement of the specificity of the intervention of psychologists at an organisational level.

- To establish the limits of the intervention of Psychology of Organisations.

- To acquire basic knowledge of the Psychology of Organisations.

Practical competencies

- To develop competencies in basic analysis and intervention.

- To know about and to learn how to use the assessment and intervention techniques and tools.

1. Organisational Psychology: introduction

- Origin and development

- The context of the practice of organisational psychology

- The psychologist of/in organisations 

2. The organisation:

- What it is.

- What it does.

- How it does it (people, structures, processes and results).

3. Levels of analysis and intervention

- Individual: motivation and satisfaction at work

- Group: team work (main milestones in the study of groups in organisations, group work and individual behaviour, group structure as a reflection of social stratification, activity differentiation and power relations, group cohesion, its determinants and effects, communication and communication networks in groups)

 - Organisational: assessment and intervention.
