Teaching Methods

The teaching methodology is based on a cooperative project and is shared with the course Interactive Multimedia Production also offered to the students from partner institutions in the second semester.

In what concerns this specific course, assessment centers on the aspects related to project management through the online platform made available for that purpose and the capacity to develop a project in the context of an international team.

Learning Outcomes

The seminar will address project management methodologies and special issues related to the content industries, including the management of intellectual property rights, marketing and distribution strategies, and identification and interaction with stakeholders, clients and end users. The approach will be theoretical and practical, with a strong emphasis on case studies.

This seminar targets the students from the partner universities who come to Coimbra in the second semester.

Syllabus

1) The creative process: from the idea to the product

2) The proposal as a contractual definition of the project to be developed

3) Team composition, roles and coordination

4) Planning a project: "work breakdown structure", Gantt diagrams, task definitions and "work packages"

5) Controlling the development of a project: reporting, weekly review, quality control, usage of project management platforms.

6) Intellectual property issues: authorship rights, reproduction rights, licensing content

7) Marketing and distribution

 

These topics are introduced in the context of the development of a project involving the students of the partner universities present at Coimbra in the second semester.
